I love how songwriting throws you into connection. Most of the time when I have a co-write with someone I just met, the first 10-15 minutes of the session is a crash course introduction while we set up. There’s usually a couple of stories told to get familiar and test the waters of vibe, and then comes the deep dive straight into the collab. Great work usually comes when both writers lean into trust with an open heart right out of the gate. This week I had 2 separate writes over at the Mill with people I had yet to meet outside of a couple of emails. Both had reached out thru NSAI to schedule a write with me my while they were in-town for Tin Pan. Randall Buffam from Southern CA and I wrote a song called “Lead with Love” and Alex Tsisserev from Canada and I wrote “Three.” Both writers were a joy to work with and I am very much looking forward to more “connection” aka collaborations with them in the future. *chef kiss*
